Key Settings:  News Server The News server usually follows this format: news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

 

  Editing existing newsgroups accounts:

When you first open Netscape, the Browsing program opens first.  To open the Mail program, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Tasks and select Mail & Newsgroups from the menu.

 

Netscape Mail opens.

To edit existing newsgroups accounts, follow these steps:

On the Toolbar, click Edit and select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings from the menu.

 

Double click your news account to expand its menu.

To the right you'll see a few settings:

Account Name  =  this can be any name you'd like to give the account.  It doesn't matter what you name it, but be distinctive.  This will help you distinguish it from any other newsgroups account you may make.
Your Name  =  Enter your name.
Email Address  =  Enter your e-mail address.

Highlight Server Settings.

 

To the right you'll see a variety of settings:

Server Name  =  News Server Enter the address of your news server.  It follows this format:  news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.


Port  =  This should be the default port of 119.

Click OK when finished.
