Disabling McAfee VirusScan 9's e-mail scanning protection:

E-mail is the most common way in which computer viruses are spread, so you should typically have automatic e-mail scanning enabled.  E-mail scanning applies to programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape, Eudora, Pegasus, etc.  E-mail attachments, html files, etc. will be scanned automatically.  If you are having problems with an e-mail program, turn off McAfee VirusScan 9 to ensure McAfee VirusScan 9 is not the culprit.  Disabling McAfee VirusScan's e-mail scanning protection is quite simple.  Do the following:

In the bottom, right-hand corner of your Desktop is the System Tray and, within it, the McAfee VirusScan 9 icon.

Right click the McAfee VirusScan 9 icon and select Open SecurityCenter from the menu.

The McAfee SecurityCenter window opens.

In the left-hand column, select the virusscan tab.

I want to... :

To the right, click the Configure VirusScan Options link.

The McAfee VirusScan - Options window appears.

Select the ActiveShield tab.

Windows Start:

Uncheck the option Scan e-mail and attachments.

Click the Apply button to save the changes.

The following prompt should appear:

You'll need to restart your e-mail client before the changes will take affect.
