Editing existing e-mail accounts:

To edit e-mail accounts, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Accounts from the menu.

 

The Mail Accounts window appears.

Highlight the desired account and click the Properties button.

 

The Account Properties window opens.

Account Name  =  Give the account a name.  This can be anything you want.  Be specific, especially if you plan on creating more than one e-mail account.
Display Name  =  Enter your name.
E-mail address  =  Enter your e-mail address.

Check the box Include this account when receiving mail.

Select the Servers tab.

 

Select the Servers tab.

Incoming mail server  =  The Incoming (POP3) mail server is mail.acn.net.

Outgoing mail server  =  The Outgoing (SMTP) mail server is mail.acn.net.

Username  =  Enter your e-mail username (everything before the @acn.net).
Password  =  Enter the password of the e-mail account.

Important:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure your Caps Lock is NOT enabled.

Check the box Remember password.

Important:  Do not enable 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication'.

 

Enabling SMTP Authentication:

SMTP authentication is required to send e-mail.  Without it, you will receive errors and not be able to send e-mail.  SMTP authentication helps deter would-be spammers from spamming you.  It's as simple as checking a box.  To enable SMTP authentication, do the following:

Check the box My server requires authentication.

Click the Settings button.

 

Mark the circle Log on using.

Username  =  Enter your e-mail username (everything before the @acn.net).
Password  =  Enter the password of the e-mail account.

Important:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure your Caps Lock is not enabled.

Check the box Remember password.

Important:  Do NOT enable 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication'.

Click OK when finished.

 

Select the Advanced tab.

Server Port Numbers:

These should be left at their default numbers for the Outgoing mail (SMTP) and Incoming mail (POP3) ports:  25 and 110 respectively.

Important:  Do NOT enable SSL.

Delivery:

We recommend that you do not enable Leave a copy of messages on server unless you enable Remove from server after ? days.  If left on the server, e-mails can build up and impede you from downloading your e-mail.  Too many e-mails as well as large e-mails can cause server timeouts.

Click OK when finished.
