Key Settings:

News Server The News server usually follows this format: news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

 

  Create a new newsgroup account:

This tutorial covers how to create a new newsgroup account in PocoMail.  Just follow the steps below:

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Accounts Setup from the menu.

 

The E-mail Accounts window appears.

Click the New Account button.

 

The following window appears:

Please enter the new account name  =  Give the new account a distinctive name.

Click the OK button.

 

The following window appears:

Select the General tab.

Personal Information:

Name  =  Enter your name or a nickname.
E-mail  =  Enter an e-mail address.

Note:  If you enter your real e-mail address, you have a much greater chance of getting spam.

Incoming Mail Settings:

Check the box Incoming Mail Settings.

Server  =  Enter the address of your ISP's news server.  It follows this format:  news.ispname.com.

Enabling NNTP Authentication:

NNTP authentication is required to participate in newsgroups.  Without this enabled, you cannot access newsgroups.  NNTP authentication helps deter would-be spammers from spamming you.  It is as simple as entering a username and a password.

Username  =  Enter your dial-up username (including @ispname.com).
Password  =  Enter your dial-up password.
Server Type  =  Select the option Newsgroups from the menu.

 

Select the Newsgroups tab.

Newsgroup Information:

To access the available newsgroups, click the Refresh List button.  Subscribe to those that interest you.

Click the OK button.

 

We return to the E-mail Accounts window.

Click the OK button to close the window.
