Key Settings:

News Server The News server usually follows this format: news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

 

  Editing existing newsgroups accounts:

To edit an existing newsgroup account setup, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Accounts from the menu.

 

The Accounts window appears. 

Select the News tab.

Click the Edit button.

 

Enabling NNTP Authentication:

The Edit Account window appears.

NNTP authentication is required to participate in newsgroups.  NNTP authentication helps deter would-be spammers from spamming within your ISP's system. 

Account Settings tab:

Account Name = Give the account a name so you will recognize it later.
Personal Information:

Email Account  =  Select the desired e-mail account from the menu.

Receiving news:

News server  =  News Server Enter the address of your news server.  It follows this format:  news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

Check the option This server requires me to log on.

Account ID  =  This should contain the username of your e-mail address (everything before the @).
Password  =  Enter your password.

Note:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure your Caps Lock key is NOT enabled.

Click the OK button to close the window.

 

We return to the Accounts window.

Edit additional newsgroups accounts if needed.

When finished, close the window.
