  Creating message filters:

Filters are used to help organize your e-mail automatically and even send certain types of e-mail to the spam folder so you don't have to see them.  In this example, we'll enable Eudora to send e-mail to the folder we created in the Folders tutorial:  'Family'.

To create a filter, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Window and select Filters from the menu.

The Filters window appears.

In the bottom, left-hand corner, click the New button.

A new, untitles filter appears.

Match:

Select the option Incoming.

Header  =  Click the down arrow and select the From option.

Select the option contains from the next drop-down menu.

Enter the e-mail address of a family member.

If you'd like to add more e-mail addresses to the filter, select the option or from the drop-down menu.

Both e-mail addresses now appear in the filter.

Action:

Click the arrows in the first drop-down menu and select the option Transfer To.

The Choose Mailbox window appears.

With the Choose Mailbox window open, click Transfer on the Toolbar and select the desired folder from the menu.  In this example, we selected "Family".

Now, Eudora will transfer automatically any incoming message from grandma@ispname.com or grandpa@ispname.com from the Inbox to the Family folder.

Close the window.

The following prompt appears:

Click the Save button to save your filter and close the window.
