Incoming Mail Server = Follows this format: mail.ispname.com (or .net) with your ISP's name substituted for "ispname.com (or .net)".

Outgoing Mail Server = Follows this format: mail.ispname.com (or .net) with your ISP's name substituted for "ispname.com (or .net)".

SMTP Authentication (e-mail username) is required to send e-mail.

 

  Creating your first e-mail account:

The first time you open Mozilla Mail the Account Wizard launches.  This wizard will help you create an e-mail account.

New Account Setup:

Select the option Email account.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Identity:

Your Name  =  Enter your name.
Email Address  =  Enter your e-mail address.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Server Information:

Select the option POP.

Incoming Server  =  Incoming Server The Incoming (POP3) mail server usually follows this format:  mail.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.
Outgoing Server  =  Outgoing Server The Outgoing (SMTP) mail server usually follows this format: mail.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

User Name:

User Name  =  Enter your e-mail username (everything before the @).

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Account Name:

Account Name  =  Enter a name for the account.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Congratulations:

Verify the information you've entered.  If necessary, click the Back button and correct any errors.

Click the Finish button to complete the wizard.

 

Mozilla's main window opens.

On the Toolbar, click Edit and select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings from the menu.

 

Enabling SMTP Authentication:

The Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window opens.

Highlight Outgoing Server (SMTP).

Select the option Use name and password.

User Name  =  Enter your e-mail username (everything before the @).

Click the Advanced button.

 

The Advanced Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings window appears.

There should only be one outgoing server listed.  Delete any unnecessary servers.

Click the OK button to close the window.

 

We return to the Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings window.

Click the OK button to close the window.
