  Creating message filters:

Filters are rules telling Netscape how to manage your e-mail.  They are used in conjunction with folders.  They can be used to send e-mail automatically to folders you create or eliminate e-mails you don't want.  In this tutorial, we'll create a filter that will send specific e-mails to the folder we created in the "Folders" tutorial:  "Family".

On the Toolbar, click Window and select Filters from the menu.

The Filters window appears.

Towards the bottom, right-hand corner, click the New button.

The buttons and fields to the right become active.

Note the two sections:  Match and Actions.

Match:

This rule will apply to incoming messages.

Select the box labeled Incoming.

From the Header drop-down menu, select the option From.

From the next menu, select the contains option.

Actions:

In the first Action drop-down menu, select the option Transfer to.

A smal box entitled Choose Mailbox appears telling you to choose a mail box from the Transfer menu.

On the Toolbar, click Transfer and select a mailbox.  In the example below, we chose the mailbox we created in the "Folders" tutorial:  "Family".

All the necessary information is now entered.

If any incoming message containing grandma@ispname.com in the From or Sender field, Eudora will transfer it automatically to the Family folder.

Close the window...

...  and click Save to apply the new filter.
