  Creating new newsgroups accounts:

Newsgroups are discussion groups.  You connect to a server and download newsgroups like e-mail.  You can read and even respond to what you read by posting your opinion on the subject.  Newsgroups cover every subject imaginable.  No matter what your interests, you'll find a newsgroups discussion on the subject.

To create a newsgroups account, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Mail and select New account or Newsgroups from the menu.

The New account wizard window appears.

Select News from the list of options.

Click the Next button to continue.

Enabling NNTP Authentication:

NNTP authentication is an important part of your newsgroups account configuration.  Without it, you will not be able to post newsgroups.  This helps deter would-be spammers.  All that is required is a username and a password.

The Account properties window opens.

Select the Servers tab.

NNTP server:

Authentication  =  Select Auto from the drop-down menu.
Username  =  Enter the complete username of your dial-up account.
Password  =  Enter the e-mail account password.

Important:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure the Caps Lock is disabled.

Note:  If not completed already, do the same with the Outgoing SMTP server.

You now have created an account.

Click OK to exit the Account properties window.
