  E-mail features of Norton Anti-Virus:

E-mail is the most common way in which computer viruses are spread, so you should typically have this turned on.

This E-mail Scanning applies to programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape, Eudora, Pegasus, etc.  E-mail attachments will be automatically scanned.

Tip:  If you are having problems with an e-mail program, turn off NAV's E-mail Scanning to make sure NAV is not the culprit.

There are two ways to access the Configuration Options.

Method 1: System Tray

In the System Tray, right-click the Norton Anti-Virus icon and select the option Configure Norton Anti-Virus from the menu.

Method 2: Options Button in NAV

With Norton Anti-Virus open, click the Options button at the top left, as shown in the following image.

If you go to a website to check your e-mail rather than using one of these programs, any attachments downloaded through Internet Explorer, for example, are seen as downloaded files rather than e-mail attachments.  So, these settings do not apply to Web Mail. To automatically scan these downloads, turn on the auto-protect feature, discussed on the Configuration Options page.

The Advanced Email Options let you change a few other settings.
