  Disable Norton System Works 2005:

E-mail is the most common way in which computer viruses are spread, so you should typically have automatic e-mail scanning enabled.  E-mail scanning applies to programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape, Eudora, Pegasus, etc.  E-mail attachments, html files, etc. will be scanned automatically.  If you are having problems with an e-mail program, turn off Norton System Works 2005 to ensure Norton System Works 2005 Antivirus is not the culprit.

Note:  Disabling the Norton System Works 2005 Control Center will disable not only the automatic e-mail scanning but all of Norton System Works 2005's protection.  To disable just the e-mail protection, click here.

Disabling Norton System Works 2005 is quite simple.  Do the following:

In the bottom, right-hand corner of your Desktop is the System Tray and, within it, the Norton System Works 2005 icon.

Right click the Norton System Works 2005 icon and in the menu select the option Disable Auto-Protect.

 

The Norton Antivirus window appears.

Protection Alert:

Select the duration  =  Select the amount of time you'd like to disable Norton Antivirus.  Selecting this option will allow Norton to turn itself back on in the event you forget to.

Click the OK to disable Norton Antivirus..

 

  Re-enable Norton System Works 2005:

In the event you remember to re-enable Norton's protection, do the following:

In the bottom, right-hand corner of your Desktop is the System Tray and, within it, the Norton System Works 2005 icon.

Right click the Norton System Works 2005 icon and in the menu select the option Enable Auto-Protect.
