BrowseBlast 3 - Web Accelerator for Microsoft Windows

PC requirements:  Pentium 200MHz with 64MB of RAM and at least 5 MB of hard-disk space.

 

Settings:  Configuring & Editing BrowseBlast:

After installing BrowseBlast you may want to adjust some settings to suit your tastes.

To do this, you will find the BrowseBlast icon in the bottom, right-hand corner of your desktop.

Click on the icon and select Settings from the menu.

 

The Settings screen appears:

Note the five tabs:  Image Quality | Connection | Email | Update | Proxy Exclusion |

 

Image Quality Tab: 

The two types of images that BrowseBlast compresses are JPEGs and GIFs.  These are the two most common types of images used on the Web.

BrowseBlast will accelerate the transfer of filesFor faster browsing you can lower the quality of the images.

Set the slide bar to your desired setting.

 

Connection Tab:  Username/Password & Server Info:

You can change logon username and password here.

Important:  the username must have the domain tail at the end to authenticate.

Important:  passwords are case-sensitive.

Click the Advanced button.

The Connection window appears:

Remote Server Hostname  =  this should read either west.browseblast.com
                                                                    -or- east.browseblast.com
                                                                   -or- north.browseblast.com

Server Port  =  this is BrowseBlast's server port.  It should read 7000.

Local Listening Port  =  this is the port on your computer.  It should read 5400.

Click OK.

 

Email tab:

Click the Email tab.  The following window appears.

Click the second option to "Enable for all applications".

BrowseBlast will now accelerate your email sending/receiving speed for programs like Outlook, Eudora, Netscape, Pegasus, etc.

Important:  You may need to Exit out of BrowseBlast and the re-open BrowseBlast for this to take effect.

 

Update Tab:

Click the Update tab.  The following window appears:

From time to time BrowseBlast must be updated.  It will do this automatically.

 

Proxy Exclusion Tab:

If you access local sites, they may download faster without the use of BrowseBlast.  You can always test it to verify.

    If you do not access any local sites, mark the circle Do not use a proxy exclusion list.

    If you do access local sites, you have two other options:

Use browser's proxy exclusion settings - with this option you can stipulate the exceptions within the browser itself (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.  Click here for the Browser page).  Click here to view a tutorial on setting up an exclusion list in the browser.

Specify a proxy exclusion list - with this option selected, you can stipulate exceptions here in this window.  To do this, enter the address(es) in the box, separating them with semicolons 
    (i.e., www.yahoo.com; www.google.com).

Click OK when finished.
