  Configuring Norton AntiSpam:

Norton's AntiSpam blocks spam messages from your Inbox and it's very good at it.  If you're having trouble downloading messages, it may be due to Norton's AntiSpam.  It may be diverting the messages, good or bad, to another folder or deleting them.  You can disable AntiSpam for troubleshooting purposes.  If you start getting messages after disabling AntiSpam, it is probably a setting you'll need to adjust within AntiSpam's options.  You should re-enable it after.

In the System Tray, right click the Norton Internet Security icon and select Open Norton Internet Security.

Norton Internet Security appears.

On the Toolbar, click Options and select Norton AntiSpam from the menu.

AntiSpam:

In the left-hand column, highlight Allowed List.

If you're not receiving messages from a specific address, add that address to your Allowed List by clicking the Add button and entering the required information.

AntiSpam:

In the left-hand column, highlight Blocked List.

You can do the same steps you did for the Allowed List to the Blocked List.  Any addresses you add here Norton automatically considers as spam and blocks them.  Ensure you don't enter good addresses here.

AntiSpam:

In the left-hand column, highlight Spam Rules.

Spam Rules:  You can add additional rules to Norton's rules to help fine tune your spam catching.  Simply click the New button and create a rule.

E-mail:

In the left-hand column, highlight Client Integration.

Select the email client(s) with which you want Norton AntiSpam to integrate:  Select the e-mail client you use so Norton can check the messages you download for spam.  Only the e-mail clients you have installed on the computer will show in the list.
Select the address book(s) from which you want Norton AntiSpam to import addresses:  Norton can import the addresses from your address books and always consider messages from these addresses as legitimate.

E-mail:

In the left-hand column, highlight AutoBlock.

The following options can help make your computer more secure; however, they can also block messages.  There is a give and take here.  Decide which options are best for you and enable them.

Image Spam:  Many spam e-mails contain images linked to remote servers.  When you open these messages, the server knows your address is valid.
Invisible Text:  Some e-mail messages contain invisible text
Phishing:  Some messages contain links that appear to be a legitimate Web address but in reality take you to a site designed to look legitimate.  The designers hope to lure you in to entering personal information.  They then take you money and possibly your identity.
Dangerous Email:  Scripts, ActiveX and Java are languages used to make interactive content.  They can also be used to compromise your computer and, therefore, your personal information.
