  Various options in our Instant Messenger:

There are various options in our IM of which you may want to be aware.  We'll discuss a few of them here.  To access these options, do the following:

The first option is expanding the main window.  There is a small green arrow with the word Open below it.  Clicking this arrow will expand the window allowing you access to local weather statistics, stocks, news, etc.

On the Toolbar, click Setup and select User Profile from the menu.

 

The My User Profile window appears.

Here you enter your personal information.

Important:  only enter information you don't mind people knowing.

Click the OK button to exit.

 

On the Toolbar, click Setup and select Preferences from the menu.

 

The Preferences window appears.

If not already selected, click the Account tab.

You can update/clear your User Directory Information.

 

Select the System tab.

You can enable our IM's auto away feature.  This function will let your buddies know if you've left your computer for a specific amount of time.

 

Select the Connection tab.

You can enable our IM to automatically connect to the IM server once you connect to the Internet.

 

Select the Privacy tab.

Occasionally you'll come across annoying, and even offensive, people online.  You can choose to block people from sending you messages.

 

Select the Sounds tab.

When enabled, our IM can alert you when a friend comes online, when you receive a message, when a friend goes offline, etc.
