  Configuring a profile for PSI:

After launching PSI for the first time, you should get the following window:  Open Profile.

Here is where you'll create an instant messaging profile.

Click the Profiles button.

 

The Manage Profiles window opens.

Click the New button.

 

The New Profile window appears.

Profile Name  =  enter a name for this profile.  It doesn't have to be the same as your instant messaging username.  You can call the profile anything you want.

Select a Default Action.

If you like emoticons, check Enable Emoticons.

Note:  emoticons are small icons that take the place of the usual typed-graphics like ':-)', ';-p', or ':-O'.

Click Create when ready.

 

We return to the Open Profile window.

Click Open.

 

The Add Account window opens.

You'll start to create your IM account here.

Name  =  enter a name for your account.  This will be a friendly name or a nickname.

If it is a new account, check Register new account.  If it is an existing account, leave this box blank.

Click the Add button.

 

Select the Account tab.

Host  =  enter the name address of the IM server.  It follows this format:  im.ispname.com.
Port  =  enter the default port of 5222.
Username  =  enter a username that you'd like for your IM account address.

Note:  if your desired username is already being used, you'll have to try another.

Password  =  enter a password.
Confirm Password  =  retype the password you entered in the previous field.

Important:  passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure your Caps Lock is NOT enabled.

Click the Register button.

 

The Account Properties window appears automatically.

Select the Account tab.

The Account tab contains the information you entered in the previous screens.  You can modify some of the information here.

 

Select the Details tab.

You can change your personal information and password here.

Click the Save button.

 

The following window appears.

Towards the bottom, right corner, click the Offline button and select Online from the menu.
