  Various options for Vista:

There are various options in Vista of which you may want to be aware.  We'll discuss a few of them here.  To access these options, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Options and select Preferences from the menu.

 

The Preferences window opens.

When enabled, Vista will alert your contacts when you've been away from the computer for a certain period of time. 

 

Select the Sound Alerts tab.

When enabled, Vista will alert you when a friend comes online, goes offline, or when you receive notification.

You can even tell Vista what sounds to use to alert you.

 

Select the Messaging Services tab.

If you use MSN Instant Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Instant Messenger, etc.  You can consolidate all the of them into one:  Vista.

Select the various messaging services from the Messaging Services drop-down menu and enter the appropriate information below.
