  Cisco 678 CAP Circuits 2.4.1:  Bridged

 

 

  Configuring the Cisco 678 (Firmware 2.4.1):  Bridged Mode:

To configure a connection, you'll need to access the Cisco 678 router through HyperTerminal.  Do the following:

Windows XP:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

Windows 95, 98, ME, 2K:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

Windows NT:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Programs -> Accessories -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

 

The New Connection - HyperTerminal window appears.

Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection:

Name  =  Enter a name for the connection.  It can be whatever you'd like.

Click the OK button to continue.

 

The Connect To screen appears.

Enter details for the phone number that you want to dial:

Connect using  =  Select COM1 from the menu.

Click the OK button to continue.

 

The COM1 Properties window appears.

Port Settings:

Bits per second  =  Select the option 38400 from the menu.
Flow control  =  Select the option None from the menu.

Click the OK button to continue.

 

A window similar to the following appears:

User Access Verification:
Password  =  Enter your "exec" password.  If you do not have a password, just press the Enter key.

cbos>  =  Enter enable and press the Enter key.
Password  =  Enter your "exec" password.  If you do not have a password, just press the Enter key.

cbos#  =  Enter set nvram erase and press the Enter key.
cbos#
  =  Enter write and press the Enter key.
cbos#
  =  Enter reboot and press the Enter key.

 

The NVRAM is cleared and all settings are at their default.  Now we can configure the router from a blank slate.

Press the Enter key to continue.

 

User Access Verification:
Password  =  Enter your "exec" password.  If you do not have a password, just press the Enter key.

cbos>  =  Enter enable and press the Enter key.
Password  =  Enter your "exec" password.  If you do not have a password, just press the Enter key.

cbos#  =  Enter set bridging rfc1483 enabled and press the Enter key.
cbos#
  =  Enter set bridging management enabled and press the Enter key.
cbos#
  =  Enter write and press the Enter key.
cbos#
  =  Enter reboot and press the Enter key.

 

The router reboots.

Press the Enter key and close HyperTerminal to disconnect.

Note:  If you want to save the connection in HyperTerminal, you can.
