  Cisco Routers - Verifying the Version of the CBOS

 

 

  Verifying the router and version of the CBOS:

To find which Cisco router and version of the CBOS you are using, do the following:

Windows XP:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select All Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

Windows 95, 98, ME, 2K:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

Windows NT:  On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Programs -> Accessories -> HyperTerminal -> HyperTerminal from the menus.

 

The HyperTerminal window appears.

Enter a name and choose an icon for the connection:

Name  =  Enter a name for the connection.

Click the OK button.

 

The Connect To window appears.

Enter details for the phone number that you want to dial:

Connect using:  Select COM1 from the menu.

Click the OK button.

 

The COM1 Properties window appears.

Port Settings:

Bits per second  =  Select 38400 from the menu.
Flow control  =  Select None from the menu.

Click the OK button.

 

If a window similar to the following doesn't appear, click the Enter key.

User Access Verification:

Password  =  Enter your password.  This could be a password you created.  If you didn't create a password, do not enter a password just click the Enter key.

 

cbos>  =  Enter the following:  sh version.

Click the Enter key.

 

The router number (678) and the CBOS version (v2.4.3) appear.
