  PPPoE Configuration for the Gnet DSL Router:

Auracom and Interhop both use the GNet router to connect to the Internet.  The easiest way to configure an Internet connection for the GNet router is by running the New Connection Wizard.  However, you can also use the Web interface to configure the router.  Configuring the router through the Web interface does exactly that — configures the router.

Note:  For Windows 2000/XP users:  Using the New Connection Wizard configures Windows 2000/XP for the router not the router for the computer.  Either method will work, but if you use the Web interface to configure the router and hook up the router to different computer later on, the router will still be configured and function normally.  If you use the New Connection Wizard to configure Windows 2000/XP for the router and hook up the router to a different computer later on, you must either configure the new computer or the router through the Web interface.

The following screenshots show how to configure the connection for a Gnet router via the Web interface.  Do the following:

Turn on the router.
Open
your browser.
In the Address bar, enter the gateway address 192.168.7.1 to access the Web interface.
Click on the Quick Configuration link.

 

The Quick Configuration screen appears.

ATM Interface:  Select the option 0 from the menu.
Operation Mode:  Select the option  Enabled from the menu.

Encapsulation:  Select the option PPPoE LLC from the menu.
VPI:  Enter the customer's VPI number.
VCI:  Enter the customer's VCI number.
Bridge:  Select the option Disabled from the menu.
IGMP:  Select the option Disabled from the menu.
IP Address:  Leave these as 0s.
Subnet Mask:  Leave these as 0s.
Use DHCP:  Select the option Enable.
Default Route:  Select the option Enabled from the menu.
Gateway IP Address:  Leave these as 0s.

 

PPP:

Username:  Enter your username provided by your ISP.  It follows this format:  username@ispname.com.
Password:  Enter your password provided by your ISP.
Use DNS:  Select the option Enable.

DNS:

Primary DNS Server:  Enter the preferred DNS server:  209.210.176.8.
Secondary DNS Server:  Enter the alternate DNS server:  209.210.176.9.

Click the Submit button and set the computer(s) for DHCP.
