Special:  How to change your dial-up number, password, username & domain tail

You can lookup a local dial-up number to connect to our ISP at http://www./dialuplocations.asp.

These screenshots and text will show you how to change your most common Internet connection settings. This is actually a fairly easy and fast process.

Note:  Netscape, Outlook & Outlook Express' automatic connection options rely on the connection you specify as the default connection.  You can configure this in Internet Options.  If you are using Internet Explorer to connect, you can still follow the instructions below or you can configure the username and password from within Internet Options as well:  Internet Explorer Instructions

You must access the connection properties to change the dial-up number you use to connect to the Internet.  Do the following:

On the Desktop, click the Start button and select Settings -> Dial-up Networking from the menus.

The Dial-up Networking window appears.

Right click the connection and select Properties from the menu.

The following screen appears:

You can lookup a local dial-up number to connect to our ISP at http://www./dialuplocations.asp.

Select the General tab.

Phone number:  Enter the new dial-up number.

Note:  Leave the area code blank and uncheck the option Use area code and Dialing Properties. Put in the phone number that is your connection to the internet with 3 or 4 commas on the end for more stable connections.

If you are at work or in a hotel then you may need to dial 9 to get an outside line. In that case, place a 9,, in front of the phone number. Be sure to put one or two commas after the 9 so that the phone line will transfer before the modem starts dialing. You may also need a comma at the front of the number to force the modem to wait for a dial tone.

For 10-digit dialing, put the area code in the phone number box (not the area code box). Remove the checkmark in the "use area code and dialing properties" checkbox.

Select the Security tab.

Authentication:

User name:  Enter your new dial-up username (including the domain tail @ispname.com).

Password:  Enter your new dial-up password.

Click the OK button to close the window.
