  Configuring your first FTP account:

The first time you run CuteFTP, the CuteFTP Connection Wizard starts.  You'll need to fill out the required information to connect to your personal Web space.  The following tutorial shows how to do configure an account.

Enter a label that will help you identify... =  Enter a name for the site.  It can be anything you'd like.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

FTP Host Address  =  Enter the address of your personal Web space.  The address follows this format:  http://users.ispname.com.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Username  =  Enter the dial-up username of your Internet account.  It follows this format:  username@ispname.com.
Password  =  Enter the dial-up password of your Internet account.

Important:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure that your Caps Lock key is DISabled.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

Default Local Folder  =  CuteFTP stores your files locally.  CuteFTP chooses a default folder; however, you can select a different one by clicking the "Folder" button.

Click the Next button to continue.

 

You're almost finished.

Click the Finish button to complete the initial configuration.

 

CuteFTP's main window opens.

You still need to configure one other setting.

Select the Site Manager tab.

 

Right click the account you just configured and select Properties from the menu.

 

The following window appears:

Select the Type tab.

Protocol type  =  Select the option FTP (standard File Transfer Protocol) from the menu.
Port  =  The port should be the default FTP port of 21.

 

Select the Actions tab.

When client connects, switch to this remote folder  =  If you use a default remote directory, this is where you would enter the path to that of the folder.

Click the OK button to close the window or click the Connect button to log on now.

 

You can also connect by right clicking the FTP site and selecting Connect from the menu.

 

To disconnect, click the File menu and select Disconnect.
