Editing existing newsgroups accounts:

To edit existing accounts, do the following:

On the Toolbar, click Mail and select Manage accounts from the menu.

 

The Manage Accounts window opens.

Highlight the desired news account and click Edit.

 

You've now accessed your news account's properties.

General tab:

Account name  =  by default, Opera gives the name of the account the name of the news server.  You can, however, call it anything you wish.

Full name  =  enter you name.

Mail address  =  enter your e-mail address.

Next, select the Servers tab.

Enabling Authentication:

NNTP authentication is required to connect to the news server and respond or post news as well.  NNTP authentication is as simple as entering a username and a password.

NNTP server:  this is where you can modify the news server information.

Server  =  enter the news server address:  news.ispname.com.
Username  =  enter the username of your Internet connection (without @ispname.com).
Password  =  enter the password of you Internet connection.
Important:  passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure the Caps Lock is disabled.
Port number  =  this should be the default news port:  119.

Important:  you need to enter your username and password to connect to the server and respond to newsgroups.

Outgoing SMTP server:  this is where you can modify your outgoing mail server information.

Server  =  enter the outgoing mail server address:  mail.ispname.com.
Username  =  enter the username of your e-mail account (without @ispname.com).
Password  =  enter the password of you e-mail account.
Important:  passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure the Caps Lock is disabled.
Port number  =  this should be the default outgoing mail port:  25.

Click OK when finished.

 

The newsgroups account has been edited.

Note:  you can add additional accounts (e-mail as well as newsgroups) here, edit, and delete them.

Click OK when finished.
