Editing newsgroups accounts in Outlook Express is like editing e-mail accounts.

To edit an existing newsgroups account, follow these steps:

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Accounts from the menu.

Select the News tab.

Highlight the desired account and click the Properties button.

The following window appears:

Select the General tab.

Name  =  this should have your name.
E-mail address  =  enter your e-mail address.

Enabling NNTP Authentication:

Select the Server tab.

In order to participate in newsgroups, you must log on to the server and authenticate.  This helps deter people from spamming in newsgroups.

Mark the box This server requires me to log on.

Account name  =  enter the username of your Internet connection (without @ispname.com).
Password  =  enter the password of your Internet connection.

Important:  passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure the Caps Lock is disabled.

Check the box Remember password.

Important:  do not enable 'Log on using Secure Password Authentication'.

Click the OK button to save the settings and to close the window.

You're done.

Close the Internet Accounts window.
