Key Settings: 

News Server The News server usually follows this format: news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

 

  Editing an existing newsgroups account:

To edit an existing newsgroups account, follow these steps:

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Options from the menu.

 

The Options window appears.

In the Properties column, expand Posting Messages and highlight Personas.

Personas:

Highlight the Persona you'd like to edit and click the Edit button.

 

The Edit Persona window appears.

Name:  Give the persona a name.
Email Address:

Address:  Enter your e-mail address.
Full Name:  Enter your name.

Allowed Message Types:

To allow Agent to send and receive messages with this persona, select the option Email messages.

Click the OK button to close the window.

 

We return to the Options window.

Click the OK button.

 

We return to Agent's main window.

Now let's edit the server settings.

On the Toolbar, click Tools and select Servers and Accounts from the menu.

 

In the List column, expand News Servers and highlight the News Server you'd like to edit.

News Server:  "Account name":

Host Name  =  News Server The News server usually follows this format: news.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Note:  Your ISP may require you to enable NNTP authentication.

Enabling NNTP authentication:

We require NNTP authentication.  This helps to deter people from within our system from spamming you.  To enabled NNTP authentication, do the following:

Login Method  =  Select the option Username and password from the menu.
Login Credentials:

Username  =  Enter your dial-up username including the domain tail.

Check the box Remember password between sessions.

Password  =  Enter your dial-up connection password.

Important:  Passwords are case-sensitive.  Ensure the Caps Lock key is NOT enabled.

Click the Advanced button.

 

The Advanced News Server Settings window appears.

We use the standard news port of 119.  Use this port when accessing our newsgroups.

Click the OK button.

 

We return to the Servers and Accounts window.

In the List column, expand Outbound Email Servers and highlight the server you'd like to edit.

Outbound Email Server:  "Server name":

Host Name  =  Outgoing Server The Outgoing (SMTP) mail server usually follows this format: mail.ispname.com (or .net).  Replace the "ispname.com (or .net)" with your ISP's name.

Enabling SMTP authentication:

We require NNTP authentication.  This helps to deter people from within our system from spamming you.  To enabled NNTP authentication, do the following:

Login Method  =  Select the option Username and password from the menu.
Login Credentials:

Username  =  Enter the username to your e-mail address.

Check the box Remember password between sessions.

Password  =  Enter the password to your e-mail address.

Click the Advanced button.

 

The Advanced Outbound Email Server Settings window appears.

We use the standard outgoing (SMTP) port of 25.  You must use this port when sending e-mail through our servers.

Click the OK button.

 

We return to the Servers and Accounts window.

That's it.  You're done.

Click the OK button to close the window.
