Configuring the Start Menu in Microsoft Windows XP:

The preferred browser and e-mail client are located at the top of the left-hand column of the Windows XP Start Menu.  If you would like to change the browser and/or e-mail client being displayed here, do the following:

Along the bottom of your Desktop, lies a long bar know as the Taskbar.

Right click on the Taskbar and select Properties from the menu.

The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window appears.

In this window, you can lock the Taskbar so that it cannot be moved, show Quick Launch items, etc.

Select the Start Menu tab.

In this window you can change from a Windows XP look to the more common Windows Classic look.

To the right, click the Customize button.

Towards the bottom is the section Show on Start menu.

You can select from the drop-down menus the browser and/or e-mail client that you desire to use.  After selecting them and applying the changes, the programs will appear in the Start Menu.
